Welcome to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

The IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a rewarding experience and a

wonderful way to give back to your community. VITA is one of the nation's largest anti-poverty programs.

 

VITA volunteers can take pride in having a meaningful impact in the community where they serve.

Each volunteer generates over $1,800  in refunds per hour and is brought back to our community. 
 

We are Recruiting for the following positions:

Volunteer Intake Specialist (In-person) - Assist taxpayers in completing the IRS Intake & Interview Sheet,

collecting and photocopying tax documents, and creating the tax file for the client.

• Pass (1) Volunteer Standards of Conduct test and (2) Intake & Interview test.

• Expect 1-2 hours of studying to complete each test.  ​​

Volunteer Tax Preparer (In-person) - Prepare simple tax returns on TaxSlayer Software.       

• Pass the  (1) Volunteer Standards of Conduct, (2) Intake/Interview tests, and either (3) Basic or Advanced certifications.

• Expect 12-20 hours of studying and completing the tests.

All tests are self-paced and open-book. Also, free tax preparation software is available to help you train.
